Job summary

AusNet is seeking an Environmental Compliance Specialist in Australia to support WRL, driving environmental performance across construction and operations. You’ll develop strategies for regulatory compliance and guide contractors toward best practice, with a focus on biodiversity and environmental reporting to regulators and stakeholders.

The role involves advising on design changes, coordinating audits, and ensuring delivery teams meet Environmental Performance Requirements across the project

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or other relevant degree.
  • 5+ years’ experience in environmental advisor roles, preferably on large infrastructure projects subject to the EES process.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert technical advice on assessing and mitigating environmental impacts and on environmental management strategies, documents, and procedures.
  • Review proposed design changes and advise on survey requirements, environmental impacts and approval risk.
  • Attend meetings with the Independent Environmental Auditor.
  • Undertake inspections and audits of contractors.
  • Develop strategies required by Environmental Performance Requirements and manage their implementation.
  • Provide expert environmental advice to construction contractors and the AusNet WRL project team.
  • Support biodiversity impact reduction strategies.
  • Review ecological reports and coordinate surveys and due diligence.
  • Prepare and review environmental content for regulators, Councils and stakeholders.
  • Review contractors’ presentations and reports.
  • Prepare environmental reports and plans for leadership and clients.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to project teams and contractors.
