Job summary

Compass is seeking a Head of Engineering to own end-to-end delivery and people leadership across ~40-50 engineers in AU/UK/Ireland. You will lead through 5-7 Development Managers, shaping the engineering operating model and alignment with Product, CPTO and business goals.

You’ll drive scalability, quality and delivery performance, partnering with technical leaders to maintain high standards while fostering a strong engineering culture.

Qualifications

• Experience leading through engineering managers across multiple teams in a product-led SaaS environment.
• Track record owning delivery outcomes across squads to achieve predictability and efficiency.
• Experience scaling engineering organisations and leading through change.

Responsibilities

• Own engineering's delivery performance across all squads, partnering with Product to align capacity and roadmap.
• Establish a consistent operating model for planning, estimation and release practices at scale.
• Own capacity planning and allocation across squads, balancing priorities and team capability.
• Define and monitor metrics on roadmap predictability, cycle time, quality, reliability and team health.
• Identify delivery risks early and escalate trade-offs to CPTO as needed.
• Directly manage and develop the Development Manager cohort and headcount planning with CPTO & People & Culture.
• Collaborate with Head of Technology to ensure standards for reliability, security and compliance.
