MMG's Dugald River mine in Queensland seeks a Senior Mining Engineer to oversee underground development and production short-term scheduling, coordinating with operations to achieve targets.

The role offers a bus-in bus-out or FIFO arrangement from Cloncurry or Mt Isa, on an 8/6 roster. It requires a B.Sc in Mining Engineering, AusIMM membership, and 4–5+ years in senior mining leadership with strong operational planning experience.

• Ensure technical aspects of planning support KPI achievement and promote disciplined practices.
• Mentor graduates and entry-level technical staff within the technical services team.

The mine is committed to a low-carbon future. In April 2023 the Dugald River Solar Farm began operations, supplying a third of the mine’s power, and reducing emissions by 33% and this is just the start of its renewable energy transition.

Dugald River employs around 750 employees and contractors on a mix of fly-in, fly-out and local residential basis.

The Senior Mining Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all short-term technical aspects relating to underground development and production are completed, enabling targets to be achieved according to the short term planning and scheduling, liaising with the operations team.

The role is available on a bus-in bus-out basis (BIBO) from the Cloncurry or Mount Isa Districts or FIFO (Brisbane or Townsville). The role will operate on an 8/6 roster.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Responsible for co-ordinating the generation of the short term schedule ensuring compliance with budget and forecasts.
• Coordinate interface between operations and planning to ensure appropriate activity levels and budgets are achieved.
• Ensure processes are developed and maintained to provide site reporting and tracking
• Manage and maintain a knowledge database of operational information to ensure that requirement changes and improvements are recorded and documented and that any non-compliance is not repeated in the future i.e reconciliation, variance reporting D&B QA/QC
• To improve mining operational efficiencies and productivity in order to deliver budgeted plans
• To ensure all technical aspects relating to planning are managed to the achievement of the key performance indicators. Promote disciplined technical practices
• Develop a rapport with the technical services team and provide technical mentoring to graduates and entry level technical staff.
