Job summary

Stantec in Perth is seeking a Senior Energy Engineer/Consultant to lead the design and delivery of renewable energy and power systems projects across Australia. You will work with the Energy team to advance solar, battery storage, microgrids, and DER initiatives, from concept through to commissioning.

The role requires at least six years' experience across renewable energy, building energy systems, and energy market projects, with strong HV/LV design, grid connection knowledge, and mentoring of

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with Power Engineering focus.
• 6+ years delivering renewable energy, building energy systems, or energy market projects.
• Substation design and MV modelling experience.
• Proficiency with ETAP, PowerFactory, CDEGS, Excel and MS Project.
• Knowledge of AS/NZS 3000, 2067, 4777 and 5033 standards.
• Experience navigating DNSP requirements and grid connection processes.
• Strong consulting, stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Commercial awareness and ability to balance technical and project outcomes.
• Mentor colleagues and contribute to team culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design of renewable energy projects (solar, wind, BESS).
• Develop HV/LV designs, protection schemes, switchgear, transformer specs.
• Prepare and review single-line diagrams and layouts.
• Perform system modelling, load flow, fault level, protection studies.
• Model solar PV, BESS, microgrids and DER systems in detail.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams from concept to commissioning.
• Engage DNSPs, regulators and stakeholders for approvals.
• Prepare technical and commercial client reports.
• Mentor junior engineers and support professional development.
• Build strong client relationships and present engineering solutions.
