Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems preferred).
• 8+ years’ experience in high voltage substation design and engineering, Australian utility environment.
• CPEng and RPEQ (or working towards it)
• Strong experience in substation design, including primary plant and associated systems
• Experience with PSSE/PSCAD/ETAP/CDEGS/WinIGS (desirable)
• Understanding of Civil/Structural and Protection & Control interfaces in substations
• Experience supporting testing and commissioning activities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and MicroStation
• Strong communication skills with clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders
• Valid Australian driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform detailed design of substations, including layouts, grounding, cable routing, AC/DC systems and documentation.
• Act as technical authority on substation design and engage with clients.
• Prepare technical specifications for major equipment to support construction, testing and commissioning.
• Support procurement processes and provide technical guidance across project delivery.
• Contribute to proposals, project plans and estimates, including leading smaller bids.
• Perform studies such as power flow, short circuit, grounding and insulation coordination.
• Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to resolve technical challenges and ensure project success.
• Conduct site visits for scope development, design validation and construction support.
