Job summary

WSP Australia is seeking a Senior or Associate Electrical Engineer to lead HV/EHV substations and data centre projects in Sydney. You will own complex multi-disciplinary designs, drive safety-in-design, and mentor junior engineers.

You will apply expertise in protection, SCADA, cables, and earthing, collaborate with civil, structural, geotechnical teams, and support business development. RPEQ/RPEV registration or eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• 7–15+ years’ post-graduate experience in HV/EHV electrical engineering.
• RPEQ/RPEV registration or eligibility required.
• Chartered status at Associate level preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead HV design for transmission & distribution substations, HV infrastructure, and data centre projects.
• Develop detailed specifications at project and equipment levels.
• Apply knowledge of power system protection, SCADA, transmission lines, cables, and earthing design.
• Support high-voltage scope for Owner’s Engineer and Technical Due Diligence projects.
• Review and verify designs and reports prepared by peers.
• Mentor junior engineers and champion technical excellence.
• Drive Safety-in-Design (SID) and ensure compliance with legislative requirements.
• Collaborate across disciplines—civil, structural, geotechnical, secondary, drafting, and control systems.
• Undertake short-term site visits as needed.
• Contribute to proposals and business development initiatives.
