Job summary

LCI Consultants in Brisbane is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design, prepare drawings, and manage multidisciplinary projects. The role involves LV infrastructure, lighting, security systems, and coordination with architects, contractors and clients to meet tight timelines.

You will perform engineering calculations, develop SLDs and schematics, and contribute to QA, mentoring junior staff, and office standards as part of a dynamic, growing team within the Artelia Group.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• RPEQ or Chartered status (CPEng) preferred.
• Experience across building services and multidisciplinary design.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design and prepare drawings and documents to meet project timelines.
• Apply knowledge of LV infrastructure, lighting, and security systems.
• Perform calculations including lighting, cable sizing, and NCC/BCA Section J.
• Prepare single line diagrams, schematics, specs and reports.
• Coordinate design with other engineers and liaise with Architects, Contractors and Clients.
• Mentor colleagues and contribute to office standards.
• Ensure project QA and documentation quality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the Electrical design and preparation of engineering drawings and documents to meet project timelines.
• Have sound knowledge of all electrical systems including LV infrastructure design, distribution boards, lighting, communications and security systems.
• Engineering calculations such as lighting calculations, cable sizing, maximum demand calculations, NCC / BCA Section J calculations.
• Preparation of single lines diagrams and schematics.
• Preparation of technical specifications, reports and contract documents.
• Preparation of engineering mark-ups, sketches etc.
• Be able to use industry related software such as…
• Sound knowledge of the National Construction Code, Australian Standards, CIBSE guides etc.
• Be able to work individually or as a team to ensure deadlines are met.
• Contribute to the electrical team and wider Perth office with training and mentoring your colleagues and engineers.
• Attend all project meetings to represent LCI Consultants.
• Manage team quality assurance to ensure project documentation is to the highest standard.
• Coordination of design with other engineers and appreciation of other services disciplines.
• Liaise with Architects, Contractors and Clients as required.
• Project finances including variations, assistance with invoicing and final account.
• Assistance with developing the office and engineering standards and maintaining best practices.
• Preparation of engineering documents to meet project timelines.
• Accurate engineering calculations as required.
• Mentor and train staff.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering
• Extensive experience as an engineering professional.
• RPEQ and/or Chartered status (CPEng)
• Experience working on multiple projects in a multidisciplinary environment
• Working knowledge and experience with AutoCAD and REVIT 3D CAD software
• Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organisation and within all disciplines
• Demonstrated capacity to develop relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and negotiate desired outcomes
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to envision and deliver required solutions
• Ability to develop high-level technical competence and quality
• Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations
