Job summary

Ventia in Jandakot (Western Australia) seeks a Senior Electrical & ITS Engineer to provide technical leadership across design, verification, commissioning, operation, maintenance and optimisation of ITS, road lighting and associated electrical infrastructure throughout Western Australia.

The role combines expertise in electrical engineering, ITS, communications, control systems, lighting and asset management to support business growth, tender development and project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered Professional Engineer or equivalent is advantageous.
• WA Electrical Licence or eligibility to obtain is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, implementation and assurance of electrical and ITS infrastructure solutions across Main Roads assets statewide.
• Provide SME expertise across electrical, lighting and ITS assets including power distribution and road lighting.
• Develop and review electrical and lighting designs and specifications for compliance with standards.
• Lead asset condition assessments, lifecycle planning and Asset Management Plans.
• Oversee testing, commissioning and handover of electrical and ITS infrastructure from design to operations.
• Investigate failures and identify root causes and improvements.

Join our Jandakot based team as aSenior Electrical & ITS Engineer, providing technical leadership across the design, verification, commissioning, operation, maintenance and optimisation of ITS, road lighting and associated electrical infrastructure throughout Western Australia.

The role combines expertise inelectrical engineering, ITS, communications, control systems, lighting and asset management, supporting business growth, tender development, project delivery and operational excellence.

As the technical authority for electrical and ITS assets, you will ensure compliance withMain Roads WA requirements, Australian Standards, electrical regulations and industry best practice, while providing technical leadership across the full project and asset lifecycle, from opportunity development and design through to commissioning, handover and ongoing asset management.

Key Accountabilities

• Lead the development, implementation and assurance of electrical and ITS infrastructure solutions across Main Roads assets statewide.
• Provide technical leadership and SME expertise across electrical, lighting and ITS assets, including power distribution, switchboards, UPS, generators, roadway lighting, VMS, CCTV, traffic signals, detection and communications systems.
• Develop and review electrical and lighting designs, calculations, specifications and compliance against relevant standards and Main Roads WA requirements.
• Lead asset condition assessments, performance reviews, lifecycle planning, renewal strategies and Asset Management Plans.
• Oversee testing, commissioning, energisation and handover of electrical and ITS infrastructure from design through to operations.
• Investigate electrical, lighting, communications and operational failures, identifying root causes and improvement opportunities.
• Provide design assurance, technical advice and engineering oversight for infrastructure projects and asset management activities.
• Analyse asset performance, reliability, maintenance and condition data to manage risk, improve reliability and optimise lifecycle outcomes.

About You

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with a current Australian Driver’s Licence.
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), NER registration or equivalent professional accreditation is advantageous.
• WA Electrical Licence, or eligibility to obtain, is desirable.
• Strong electrical engineering experience across ITS, transport infrastructure, industrial automation, utilities or related sectors.
• Demonstrated experience delivering ITS, lighting and electrical infrastructure projects from concept through to commissioning and handover.
• Strong knowledge of electrical distribution, control systems, SCADA, PLCs, communications networks and intelligent field devices.
• Experience in transport and public infrastructure lighting design, with knowledge ofAS/NZS 1158andMain Roads WArequirements.
• Knowledge of asset management, reliability engineering and lifecycle asset planning.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel (advanced) and in engineering design software, includingAGi32andPerfectLiteor equivalent; AutoCAD experience is desirable.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, lighting calculations and asset documentation.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working with authorities, utilities, contractors, consultants and suppliers.
• Proactive, solution-focused and commercially minded, with strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
