Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a high-performing mid-level ecologist to join our Sydney office. You will lead biodiversity assessments, work with engineers and planners, and help grow the business across public and private sectors.

You will contribute to ecological projects from inception through delivery, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate ecological considerations into broader infrastructure programs.

Qualifications

• Degree in a relevant science discipline such as ecology, environmental science or natural resource management.
• 5+ years experience delivering ecology projects in NSW.
• Knowledge of NSW flora and state/Commonwealth legislation (EPBC Act, BC Act).
• Willingness to travel for fieldwork, including extended trips.
• Strong report writing skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking and leading flora, fauna and habitat assessments in line with EPBC Act and BC Act.
• Contributing to and leading project opportunities, including writing proposals and client relationships.
• Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members.
• Actively contributing to a NSW ecology team within a broader national ecological section.
