Ferrycarrig Construction Pty Ltd is a leading contractor delivering utilities and civil infrastructure across Sydney and NSW. This permanent full-time Drainlayer position calls for hands-on installation of stormwater and sewer systems on major projects, with a focus on safety and quality workmanship.

The successful candidate will read blueprints and operate heavy equipment, install below-ground piping, manage de-watering, test systems and ensure conformance to design and safety standards on

Qualifications

• Hold a relevant qualification and a minimum two years of work experience, or have at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment and tools effectively and safely.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Responsabilités

• Study blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine the layout of storm water and sewerage systems.
• Excavate and level to line, depth and grade according to drawings and specifications.
• Set out and install below ground concrete and PVC sanitary and storm-water pipes.
• Carry out site drainage and de-watering procedures, employing storm-water, sub-soil and pumped systems.
• Test drainage systems.
• Locate and clear blockages in below ground systems.
• Install excavation supports in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
• Dig trenches to desired or required depths by hand or using trenching tools or machinery.
• Check slopes for conformance to requirements.
• Cut pipes to required lengths.
• Align and position pipes to prepare them for sealing.
• Connect pipe pieces and seal joints using cement.
• Cover pipes with earth or other materials
