Job summary

Harwood Construction Group in Melbourne is seeking a Senior Draftsperson - Archicad on a contract basis based in South Melbourne, VIC 3205. You will produce accurate architectural drawings and construction documentation across residential and construction projects.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years' experience, advanced Archicad skills, and a solid knowledge of Australian building codes. You will work independently while coordinating with consultants and our construction team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in residential or architectural drafting and construction documentation.
• Advanced proficiency in Archicad.
• Strong knowledge of Australian building codes and relevant construction standards.

Responsibilities

• Produce architectural drawings and construction documentation using Archicad, including floor plans, elevations, sections and construction details.
• Develop and maintain accurate Archicad models throughout the project lifecycle.
• Translate design concepts into detailed and practical construction drawings.
• Coordinate architectural drawings with engineering and other consultant documentation.
• Identify and resolve drawing discrepancies and coordination issues.
• Ensure documentation complies with relevant Australian building codes, standards and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and update drawing schedules, specifications and technical notes.
• Liaise with consultants and construction teams to clarify documentation and resolve technical queries.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and drawing revisions.
• Assist in improving drafting standards and documentation processes.

The role will focus on producing accurate architectural drawings and construction documentation across our residential and construction projects. We are looking for someone who is technically strong, experienced with Archicad and capable of working independently while coordinating with consultants and our construction team.

What we’re looking for

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in residential or architectural drafting and construction documentation
• Advanced proficiency in Graphisoft Archicad
• Strong knowledge of Australian building codes and relevant construction standards
• Good understanding of residential construction methodologies and building systems
• Strong technical drawing and documentation skills with excellent attention to detail
• Ability to coordinate architectural, structural and consultant documentation
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Relevant qualification in Architectural Technology, Building Design, Drafting or a related field
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently
• Experience with other relevant design and documentation software would be advantageous
