Job summary

South West Healthcare in Warrnambool is seeking a senior health leader to guide access and patient flow across all services and campuses. You will lead the Clinical Coordination Centre, manage bed placement in real time, coordinate admissions and transfers, and drive system-wide improvements in access, efficiency and governance.

The role reports to the COO and involves oversight of PCN, patient transport, and resource management, with a focus on performance, policy development and service

Qualifications

• Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife or a recognised allied health qualification is desirable; equivalent senior operational leadership experience in patient flow or health service management will also be considered.
• Demonstrated expertise in patient access, flow and bed management principles, including experience leading or operating within a clinical operations or command centre model.
• A demonstrated ability to coordinate patient admission, transfer and discharge in real time across multiple sites, prioritising placement in line with right place, right time principles.
• Extensive experience at senior clinical management level with relevant postgraduate/tertiary management qualifications or working towards same, Masters level qualification is desirable.
• Demonstrated understanding of business principles which apply to the health industry in Australia.
• Demonstrated experience in budget and KPI development, review and monitoring
• Demonstrated evidence of achieving, innovative cultural change through implementing and evaluating, performance, policies and standards pertaining to clinical services.
• Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in quality, safety and clinical governance principles; and their application to risk management within a healthcare environment, including formulating new approaches and developing comprehensive implementation strategies for services.
• Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with external partners and staff at all levels of the organisation.
• Demonstrated high level organisational ability including the ability to set priorities and achieve results, to work autonomously and meet deadlines, and be outcome focused.
• High level computer skills with experience in relation to the Microsoft Office suite and use of other management and rostering systems.
• Excellent writing and analytical skills including a demonstrated ability to prepare reports using clear, concise language, logical sequencing and content appropriate to the purpose and audience.
