Job summary
Leica Biosystems is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead a large, multidisciplinary team in Mount Waverley, Victoria. The role focuses on strategy, capability, and delivery across applications, firmware, cybersecurity and DevSecOps to enable product roadmaps and business impact.
The successful candidate will lead transformation, drive delivery performance, and build engineering capability in a matrixed organization within a global leader in cancer diagnostics.

- Bachelor's degree and 10+ years in software leadership with delivery of complex products.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams in matrixed organizations.
- Strong background in software architecture, lifecycle management, and cyber security.
Responsibilities
- Lead the software engineering organization to deliver secure, high-quality software solutions across applications and embedded systems.
- Define and execute software engineering strategy aligned with product roadmaps and R&D priorities.
- Drive delivery excellence and modernization through DevSecOps, automation, and AI-enabled productivity.
- Provide technical leadership and governance on architecture, standards, and major decisions.
- Develop talent and build scalable workforce planning within a large, multidisciplinary team.
