Job summary

Leica Biosystems, a Danaher operating company, seeks a Director, Software Engineering to lead the ASI software engineering organisation in Mount Waverley, Victoria, Australia. The on-site role will drive strategy, capability and delivery across applications, firmware, verification, cybersecurity, architecture, DevSecOps and software quality.

You will shape product roadmaps, strengthen engineering capability and partner across global teams to ensure timely, compliant, high-quality software

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in software engineering or related discipline.
• At least 10 years of software engineering leadership experience delivering complex products.
• Experience delivering application and embedded software with hardware awareness.
• Strong foundation in architecture, modern development, software quality and lifecycle management.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary software teams in matrixed organisations.
• Experience driving transformation and delivery improvements with data-driven decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead software engineering organisation to deliver high-quality, secure, reliable software.
• Define and execute software engineering strategy aligned with product roadmaps and R&D priorities.
• Drive delivery excellence across new product development and lifecycle activities.
• Advance DevSecOps and AI-enabled productivity within the software lifecycle.
• Provide architectural governance and set engineering standards and technology direction.
• Grow and develop a high-performing engineering team and scalable workforce planning.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Systems Engineering and global Leica teams to align priorities.
