Job summary

Great Southern Bank (Formerly CUA) in Brisbane is seeking a hands-on DevOps Engineer. You will optimise critical platforms, strengthen CI/CD and automation, and ensure secure, scalable, 24x7 operations across cloud and on-prem environments.

You lead incident response, drive continuous improvement, and collaborate with delivery teams to balance rapid change with operational discipline. Hybrid work model offered in Brisbane.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in IT environments including application support, cloud engineering or technical delivery.
• AWS and cloud-native technologies experience with on-prem exposure
• Strong DevOps and automation capabilities including CI/CD pipelines and scripting
• Broad Windows and Linux knowledge incl. security, storage and networking
• Experience supporting business-critical, customer-facing systems such as digital banking or payments
• Technical leadership, vendor management, risk, and regulatory awareness in financial services
• Degree qualifications in IT; AWS, RHEL or related certifications highly regarded

Responsibilities

• Support and optimise critical application platforms and AWS cloud environments for high availability.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines and automate build, deployment and operations.
• Manage patching, vulnerabilities, capacity and platform lifecycle for security and resilience.
• Configure and maintain monitoring and alerting across 24x7 systems.
• Support project delivery with non-production environments and deployments.
• Lead technical incident response and stakeholder communications during outages.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers and partner teams.
• Participate in after-hours releases and the DevOps on-call roster.
