Job summary

Ignite is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to lead cloud engineering efforts for AI and ML initiatives. The role focuses on deploying scalable AI/DS solutions in secure AWS environments, with a strong emphasis on DevOps and MLOps practices.

You will mentor multidisciplinary teams, establish templates and automation patterns, and ensure secure, scalable production-ready delivery across government programs. NSW or VIC-based with hybrid work options.

Qualifications

• Australian Citizenship is mandatory.
• Ability to obtain and maintain NV1 Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, deployment and operationalisation of AI, machine learning and data science solutions.
• Drive DevOps, MLOps and cloud engineering best practices across AWS environments.

We are seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer with a passion for cloud engineering, MLOps and productionising AI solutions at scale. This is an exciting opportunity to lead engineering practices that take AI and data science initiatives from proof of concept through to production-ready delivery within secure AWS environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, deployment and operationalisation of AI, machine learning and data science solutions.
• Drive DevOps, MLOps and cloud engineering best practices across AWS environments.
• Build and maintain scalable data pipelines, deployment frameworks and monitoring solutions.
• Develop reusable architectures, templates and automation patterns for AI workloads.

About You

You will bring demonstrated experience in:

• AWS cloud engineering and deployment of AI, Machine Learning or Data Science solutions.
• DevOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code and automation practices.
• MLOps, model deployment, monitoring and production support.
• Leading technical teams across DevOps, Data Engineering, Cloud Engineering or Machine Learning Engineering.
• Building scalable, secure and maintainable cloud-based solutions.
• Working closely with business and technical stakeholders to deliver outcomes.

Highly Regarded

• Experience with LLMOps, AI workflow automation or Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
• Strong understanding of responsible AI, security, privacy and governance frameworks.
• Experience producing technical standards, reference architectures and reusable engineering guidance.
