Job summary

Talent Corp is assisting a Federal Government agency to hire an experienced DevOps Engineer. The role focuses on AWS cloud infrastructure, IaC, CI/CD, containerisation and platform reliability to support AI, data science and software engineering solutions.

The role is a 12 month contract with a potential extension, located in Richmond or Geelong with hybrid working arrangements. Australian citizenship is mandatory and NV1 clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on AWS experience with cloud infrastructure and platforms.
• Solid Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, AWS CDK and CloudFormation.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes (Amazon EKS).
• Knowledge of AWS networking, IAM, security and secrets management.
• Experience implementing monitoring, logging and observability solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting across cloud infrastructure, deployments and applications.
• Experience with AI, ML or data science platforms is advantageous.
• Exposure to MLOps, LLMOps, Bedrock, generative AI or RAG is a plus.

Job description

Our client is a Federal Government agency seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to support cloud platforms underpinning AI, data science and software engineering solutions. This is a hands‑on AWS role with a strong focus on cloud infrastructure, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, containerisation and platform reliability.

The role

Working within multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will design, automate, deploy and support AWS cloud infrastructure and engineering platforms across development, testing and production environments. You will help bridge the gap between development and operations, supporting teams to move applications and emerging AI/data solutions from proof of concept through to secure, scalable and production-ready services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure across development and production environments.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code, primarily using Terraform, AWS CDK and/or CloudFormation.
• Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines covering build, testing, security scanning and automated deployment.
• Deploy and support containerised applications using Docker, Kubernetes and Amazon EKS.
• Support AWS networking, IAM, compute, storage, secrets management and security services.
• Implement monitoring, logging, alerting and observability across cloud platforms and applications.
• Troubleshoot complex application, deployment, infrastructure and environment issues.
• Support platform security, resilience, scalability, performance and cost optimisation.
• Work closely with software, AI/ML and data engineering teams to establish reusable deployment patterns and reliable platform capabilities.
• Contribute to technical documentation, operational runbooks and engineering standards.

About you

You will be an experienced, hands‑on DevOps or Cloud Engineer with strong commercial AWS experience and the ability to operate across both infrastructure and application delivery.
Ideally, you will bring:

• Strong hands‑on experience designing, deploying and supporting solutions in AWS.
• Solid Terraform / Infrastructure as Code capability.
• Strong experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Commercial experience with Docker and Kubernetes, ideally Amazon EKS.
• Good understanding of AWS networking, IAM, security and secrets management.
• Experience implementing monitoring, logging and observability solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across cloud infrastructure, deployments and applications.
• Experience supporting AI, machine learning or data science platforms would be highly regarded.
• Exposure to MLOps, LLMOps, Amazon Bedrock, generative AI or RAG solutions would be advantageous.
