Job summary

Compas PTY is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to design, build and deploy enterprise AI solutions using Azure AI Foundry, Azure AI Services and generative AI. You will develop AI agents, generative AI apps and RAG architectures in a secure, scalable government-focused environment.

The role demands integrating AI with enterprise systems and data platforms, applying AI engineering, DevOps and MLOps practices while upholding responsible AI, security and governance standards.

Job description

Senior AI Engineer | Azure AI Foundry

Design and deliver enterprise AI solutions using Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI and generative AI technologies. Build AI agents, intelligent applications and secure, scalable AI services across a complex Australian Government environment.

Location: QLD, ACT, VIC, NSW
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – ACT candidates may be required onsite in Canberra three days per week and/or as required; interstate candidates may attend a state office or regional hub and travel to Canberra as required.
Contract Duration: 12 months with 2 x 12-month extension options
Security Clearance Requirement: Must be able to obtain Baseline

Essential Tasks

• Design, build and deploy AI solutions using Azure AI Foundry and Microsoft AI services.
• Develop AI agents, generative AI applications, machine learning solutions and RAG architectures.
• Integrate AI capabilities with enterprise systems, applications and data platforms.
• Apply AI engineering, DevOps and MLOps practices across secure, scalable AI solutions.

Key Criteria

• Demonstrated enterprise AI delivery experience with Azure AI Foundry, Azure AI Services and generative AI.
• Strong experience developing AI agents and integrating AI with enterprise systems and data platforms.
• Expertise across Python, REST APIs, Azure OpenAI, RAG, GitHub/Azure DevOps and MLOps.
• Experience applying responsible AI, security, privacy and governance requirements.
