Job summary

NTT DATA in Canberra is seeking an experienced Senior Cloud / DevOps Engineer to support a System of National Significance (SoNS). The role spans cloud engineering, infrastructure automation and application support, collaborating with development, operations and stakeholders.

Required NV1 security clearance, and hands-on experience with Azure, Elasticsearch, PowerShell and IaC practices. You will mentor engineers, design scalable solutions and ensure high availability of critical systems.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with cloud implementations.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure PROTECTED cloud environments.
• Experience with Elasticsearch.
• Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell.
• Experience troubleshooting Java applications in a Linux environment, or Java development experience.
• Experience creating and maintaining automated deployments.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, preferably including Ansible and ARM.
• Ability to work full-time from the client's premises in Canberra.
• An AGSVA NV1 security clearance, as required for the position.

Responsibilities

• Deliver cloud development and engineering activities in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
• Build, maintain and improve Infrastructure as Code across a range of systems.
• Create and maintain automated deployments and self-service capabilities.
• Support and troubleshoot Java applications operating in Linux environments.
• Build and support services and technologies including Microsoft Azure.
• Use cloud-native tools to monitor the health and utilisation of cloud services.
• Undertake performance tuning and contribute to operational improvements.
• Participate in complex technical design and provide practical design input.
• Take ownership of relevant technologies within your area of specialisation.
• Investigate complex issues and escalated unresolved problems to the Technical Lead or appropriate third parties.
• Produce reports, proposals and maintain clear project documentation.
• Mentor and coach engineers, encouraging knowledge sharing, skills development and the adoption of effective engineering practices.
• Work directly with the client onsite to understand and address complex solution requirements

You’ll be part of a cohesive team dedicated to one particular client, supporting a System of National Significance (SoNS). Essential criteria

• Demonstrated practical experience and understanding of cloud implementations.


• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure PROTECTED cloud environments .


• Experience with Elasticsearch .


• Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell .


• Experience troubleshooting Java applications in a Linux environment, or Java development experience.


• Experience creating and maintaining automated deployments.


• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code , preferably including Ansible and ARM .


• Ability to work full-time from the client's premises in Canberra .

Desirable criteria

• Experience mentoring team members is desirable.


• Knowledge of the products in some of the following technology stack: Azure Bicep, Terraform, HBase/HDFS (HDInsight), Neo4j, Kafka, NiFi, Kibana, Logstash, GraphQL, Redis, WSO2 Identity Server (or similar), WSO2 API Manager (or similar), PostgreSQL (or similar), React (or similar), Java springboot. Azure big data services, Azure AD/ADFS, Azure API Manager, Azure CosmosDB.
