Job summary

SKL Technology seeks an experienced DevOps Engineer to support a major Federal Government ICT modernization program in Canberra. Hybrid role with relocation support, 12‑month contract with extension potential, focusing on secure, automated cloud environments.

You will partner with development, cloud/platform, integration and cyber security teams to design and maintain CI/CD pipelines, IaC, and automated deployments across Azure and other clouds.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code using ARM templates, Bicep and YAML.
• Automate deployments and operational processes with PowerShell.
• Manage development, testing and production hosting environments.
• Implement monitoring and alerting for proactive issue resolution.
• Integrate security controls (SAST/DAST) into CI/CD pipelines.
• Troubleshoot complex apps across cloud and on‑prem environments.
• Collaborate with developers, Cyber Security and other teams.
• Maintain documentation for deployments and DevOps best practices.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to support a major Federal Government ICT transformation and modernization program.

You will work closely with development, cloud/platform, integration and cyber security teams to build and maintain secure, resilient and highly automated application environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain complex Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using ARM templates, Bicep and YAML.
• Automate deployments and operational processes using PowerShell.
• Manage development, testing and production hosting environments.
• Implement monitoring, alerting and proactive issue-resolution capabilities.
• Integrate automated testing and security controls, including SAST and DAST, into CI/CD pipelines.
• Troubleshoot complex applications across cloud and on-premises environments.
• Collaborate with developers, Cyber Security, integration teams and other technical stakeholders.
• Maintain technical documentation covering deployments, configurations and DevOps best practices.
• Extensive Azure DevOps experience, including complex pipeline design and maintenance.
• Strong CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code experience using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub.
• Strong Git knowledge, including branching strategies and code reviews.
• Hands‑on Azure experience, particularly Azure App Service and related cloud services.
• Experience across major cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
• Strong PowerShell scripting and automation capability.
• Experience with ARM templates, Bicep and YAML.
• Strong application troubleshooting skills across on-prem and cloud environments.
• Experience supporting software development, build and deployment processes.
• Exposure to cloud optimization/FinOps and resource right-sizing.

Highly Desirable

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Experience implementing build and deployment systems within complex enterprise environments.
• Previous experience within Federal Government or highly regulated environments.
