Sutherland Shire Council is seeking a Senior Development Engineer – Stormwater and Flooding to assess development proposals and evaluate environmental and engineering impacts. You will prepare and review engineering plans and provide specialist advice on flooding and water quality as part of project teams.

You will mentor junior staff, contribute technical expertise, and may act as team leader on occasions.

Qualifications

• Strong background in civil or environmental engineering with extensive stormwater/flooding experience.
• Proficient in hydraulic and hydrologic software for assessments and modelling.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.

About The Role

The Senior Development Engineer – Stormwater and Flooding will play a crucial role in assessing development proposals to evaluate their environmental and engineering impacts. This position involves preparing and reviewing engineering plans, providing specialist advice on flooding and water quality, and contributing technical expertise to various project teams. As a senior member of the team, you will also mentor junior staff and may occasionally act as a team leader.

Who We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in civil or environmental engineering with extensive experience in stormwater and flooding assessments.

• Tertiary qualifications in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• Strong experience in stormwater and flooding assessment.
• Proficiency in hydraulic and hydrologic software (e.g., Drains, Turflow, ArcMap, HEC-RAS, MUSIC).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Adept problem-solving and analytical skills.

In addition to technical expertise, you will demonstrate strong leadership qualities.

• Hours of work: Permanent Full-Time.Working 35 hours per week. You will have the option of a 19 day month with Council's ADO system (Accrued Day Off).
