Job summary

IT Alliance Australia is helping a Federal Government client hire a Senior Developer to lead software and technical designs across Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide.

You will drive high‑quality code, set development strategy, monitor standards and security, and tackle large, complex systems. Experience with COBOL/Adabas/Natural on mainframes is an advantage. This role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to influence architecture decisions across teams and across cities.

Qualifications

• Experience leading development teams on complex projects.
• Ability to design scalable software architectures.
• Knowledge of software security best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead and create software and technical designs for highly complex development solutions.
• Develop strategy to ensure high quality code and long-term maintenance of a product's code base.
• Measures and monitors applications of project/team standards for software construction, including software security.
• Ability to work in a Mainframe environment, with COBOL/Adabas Natural or other mainframe languages being an advantage.
• Undertake objective, systematic analysis and draw accurate conclusions based on evidence.
• Designs large or complex systems and undertakes impact analysis on major design options and trade-offs.
