Job summary

Corroboree Talent recruits an experienced Senior Developer to take technical ownership of complex software solutions within a large Australian Government ICT environment. The role blends hands-on development, systems design, technical leadership and delivery across modern and mainframe technologies. Location: Canberra region.

Contract: 12 months + up to 24 months extension. Rate: 160+ AUD per hour. Security Clearance: Must hold or be able to obtain a Baseline clearance.

Qualifications

• Senior development experience across the full lifecycle and complex systems design.
• Experience with mainframe technologies; COBOL, Adabas Natural, or similar; M204 desirable.
• Strong OO skills in Java and/or C#, with emphasis on standards and configuration management.

An opportunity for an experienced Senior Developer to take technical ownership of complex software solutions within a large Australian Government ICT environment. The role combines hands‑on development, systems design, technical leadership and production delivery across modern and mainframe technologies.

What You'll Do

• Lead complex software design, development, prototyping, testing, release and production support activities.
• Provide technical leadership, resolve complex ICT issues and drive high standards for code quality, security and maintainability.
• Assess technical requirements, design options and risks while working with stakeholders to deliver effective software solutions.

What We're Looking For

• Senior software development experience with responsibility across the full development lifecycle and complex systems design.
• Experience working with mainframe technologies; COBOL, Adabas Natural or other mainframe languages are advantageous, with M204 highly desirable.
• Strong object-oriented development skills, including Java and/or C#, plus experience applying development standards, methods and configuration management practices.
