Job summary

Ausenco in Newcastle is seeking an experienced Lead/Senior Designer to head the design team, delivering high‑quality drafting across process, structural, mechanical and piping disciplines. You will mentor designers, drive best practices, and coordinate resources across multiple projects to ensure schedule adherence.

You will build strong client and engineering relationships, champion safety, and contribute to innovative, cost-effective design solutions while supporting recruitment and workforce

Qualifications

• Significant experience in design drafting across process, structural, mechanical and piping.
• Proven leadership experience, including managing and developing design teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Advanced Diploma in Engineering or equivalent qualification.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the design team to ensure deliverables meet quality, standards and timeframes.
• Coordinate and allocate design resources across multiple projects.
• Review and oversee design deliverables for compliance with standards.
• Drive continuous improvement and best practices in design drafting.
• Mentor, coach and develop designers to build capability and high-performance culture.
• Support recruitment and workforce planning to resource projects across APAC.
• Build strong relationships with project teams, engineers and clients.
• Contribute to cost-effective project delivery with innovative design solutions.
• Champion health, safety and environmental practices.
