Job description

Fund & Investment Operations Analyst - Derivatives and Collateral Operations Specialist

50years ago, John C. Bogle had a vision to start an investment company that did things differently. A company with no external shareholders. Where all the profits were invested back into the business and used to lower costs.Evidently, itwas as bold as it was brilliant. To this day, Vanguard Group still has no external shareholders. That means no share prices to protect, and no profits to generate for outside owners.

Today, Vanguard is one of the world's largest investment management companies, serving more than50 million investorsworldwide. For more than 30 years Vanguard Australia has been supporting individual investors, financial advisers, and superannuation members to achieve their long-term financial goals.

We are seeking a Fund & Investment Operations Analyst – Specialist to join our Derivatives and Collateral Management Team within Investment Operations. The team plays a critical role in protecting Vanguard's funds by ensuring derivatives and collateral obligations are managed accurately, and appropriate collateral is exchanged with some of the world's largest financial institutions. As a key subject matter expert, you will oversee daily operations across OTC and exchange-traded derivatives margining, collateral management, position and valuation reconciliations, cash movements, regulatory, and swaps lifecycle events. You will take ownership of complex operational processes, resolve exceptions, strengthen risk and controls, support global process model, and drive improvements through technology and automation. Working closely with investment teams, global partners, technology teams, broker-dealers, custodians, and other external counterparties, you will also coach team members and help build capability across the function. This is an opportunity to deepen your expertise in financial markets, risk management, and investment operations while making professional judgement and a continuous improvement mindset to make a meaningful impact in a broad, globally connected specialist role.

Core Responsibilities

  • Builds effective relationships with investment teams, global business partners, technology teams, broker-dealers, custodians, and other external counterparties. Anticipates stakeholder needs, communicates proactively, and coordinates the timely resolution of operational issues.
  • Creates and reviews required quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports for use in the funds' financial statements and for examination by our external auditors for data regarding derivatives.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert and cross-trained resource for the wider function. Mentors and coaches team members, shares technical knowledge, supports operational coverage and on-the-job training, and helps strengthen capability across the team.
  • Partners with the team to foster a comprehensive conceptual understanding of processes and their impact to internal and external clients. Understands and recommends solutions to mitigate business risks by implementing process improvements related to department and team workflows. Researches and evaluates derivatives regulation changes and market events that may impact operational processes.
  • Ensures accountability for comprehensive documentation of all current policies and procedures.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
