Job summary

West Technology is seeking a Database Specialist to own the organisation's database and reporting platforms, ensuring security, reliability and scalability to support business operations.

You'll modernise platforms, improve performance, and manage resilience, capacity, disaster recovery and continuous improvement while collaborating with internal teams and external providers across incidents, projects and releases.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as a Database Administrator with vendor liaison responsibilities.
• Strong SQL and Oracle Database expertise; Oracle certifications highly regarded.
• Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and related certifications beneficial.
• Experience working within an ITIL environment.
• Solid understanding of cybersecurity, governance and technology risk.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to derive practical solutions.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-influencing abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and modernisation of secure, reliable and high-performing database and reporting platforms.
• Shape platform strategy and lifecycle plans, balancing business needs, emerging technology and legacy environments.
• Own platform resilience and performance, including capacity planning, disaster recovery and business continuity.
• Drive continuous improvement and automation, finding ways to make services more reliable, efficient and scalable.
• Lead service delivery and change, working across incidents, projects, releases and technology initiatives with internal teams and external providers.
• Maintain strong governance and security, ensuring compliance, vendor performance, risk management and technical documentation are well managed.
