Job summary

Westpac Bank in Melbourne or Sydney is seeking a Senior Engineer - Data Modernisation to lead a squad responsible for modernising engineering capability and accelerating adoption of governed platforms and reusable frameworks.

You will stay hands-on across ADAPT and Unified Framework (UFW), guiding designs, code quality and engineering artefacts while driving faster, safer data pipelines and scalable solutions across the enterprise.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate a squad delivering engineering modernisation and capability uplift.
• Stay hands-on across ADAPT and Unified Framework (UFW), guiding designs, code quality and engineering artefacts.
• Accelerate reusable, metadata-driven pipeline patterns and self-service engineering capabilities.
• Modernise Teradata and traditional batch solutions, reducing bespoke builds through standardisation and reuse.
• Champion AMP, GitHub Copilot, AI-assisted engineering, reusable agents and automation that remove manual effort.
• Set high standards across development, testing, deployment and support so solutions are secure, scalable and supportable.
• Coach engineers, remove blockers and partner with Product Owners, Chief Engineers and Technology Domain Owners to improve delivery.
