Job summary

Professional Recruitment Australia seeks a Senior Data Migration Engineer for a 12-month contract, with Canberra as the preferred location and Melbourne or Sydney also considered. You will lead migrations to Google Cloud Platform, automate data discovery, design data models, and deliver governance and reporting across the program.

Your expertise includes PowerShell automation, SQL Server data modeling, SSIS/ETL pipelines, and Power BI/DAX reporting, with experience in end-to-end migration

Qualifications

• Advanced PowerShell for enterprise-scale data discovery and automation.
• Strong SQL Server capability, including data modelling, stored procedures, optimisation and reconciliation.
• Proven SSIS/ETL experience.
• End-to-end cloud migration delivery experience, ideally to GCP.
• Experience designing migration strategy, cutover plans and rollback procedures.
• Power BI and DAX reporting experience.

Responsibilities

• Automate enterprise-scale data discovery using advanced PowerShell, including metadata/permission capture, Active Directory integration, scheduling, logging, auditing and recovery
• Design metadata repositories and data models, from conceptual through to physical, in SQL Server
• Build robust SSIS/ETL pipelines ingesting database and file-based sources, with transformation, cleansing, validation and incremental loading
• Lead end-to-end migration of structured and unstructured data to GCP (including Cloud Storage), preserving metadata and permissions, with reconciliation and post-migration verification
• Design migration approaches, plan waves, manage dependencies and risks, and produce runbooks, cutover plans and rollback procedures
• Deliver migration-readiness, operational, executive, governance and compliance reporting via Power BI and DAX
• Establish engineering standards and coordinate delivery across business, infrastructure, security and application teams

About the opportunity

A leading global professional services and technology consulting firm is looking for a Senior Data Migration Engineer for a 12-month contract, starting mid-September. Canberra is preferred, with Melbourne or Sydney also considered. You'll lead the migration of structured and unstructured data from legacy platforms to Google Cloud Platform, building the automation, data architecture and governance that underpins a large-scale migration program.
