Job summary

Snowy Hydro is seeking a hands-on Data Engineer to join the Platform Engineering and Data Ops team in our Enterprise Data function in Sydney. You will design, build, and test core data pipelines, focusing on Medallion architecture using Snowflake, and native integrations with SAP and ServiceNow.

You will embed data quality, testing, and CI/CD deployment practices, while leveraging AI-assisted coding agents to accelerate development, data modelling, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Snowflake engineering experience in a production environment.
• Strong Python and SQL skills for data transformation and modelling.
• Experience building Medallion (Bronze-Silver-Gold) architectures and native connectors to SAP/ServiceNow.
• Ability to deploy data models through CI/CD pipelines with Git.
• Knowledge of data quality, masking, observability and automated testing.
• Experience using AI coding assistants to accelerate development and documentation.
• Background in regulated industries is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Build end-to-end Medallion pipeline architecture and connect to SAP/ServiceNow.
• Design, build, test and productionize enterprise data models using Snowflake, Python and SQL.
• Implement data quality validations, masking, observability and automated alerting.
• Develop automated unit/integration/regression tests for data pipelines.
• Mentor and share knowledge with junior team members.
