Job summary

Commonwealth Bank in Australia seeks a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data solutions supporting BI, reporting, and strategic decision making.

You will develop ETL/ELT pipelines, implement Databricks and Microsoft Fabric-based platforms, and collaborate with stakeholders to turn requirements into robust data products. The role offers relocation to WA and a flexible hybrid arrangement.

Qualifications

• Strong expertise in SQL, including data modelling, query optimisation, ETL/ELT development, and relational database design.
• Hands-on experience delivering data platform transformation initiatives, including platform selection, architecture, migration, and integration activities.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks for building and supporting modern data platforms and lakehouse architectures.
• Ability to lead platform implementation projects, engaging with business stakeholders and technical teams to translate requirements into sustainable data solutions.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, cloud data platforms, data migration projects, and data orchestration frameworks.
• Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, or similar scripting languages for automation and platform management.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to support enterprise reporting and analytics requirements.
• Build and optimise Microsoft Fabric data solutions, including data pipelines, orchestration workflows, and Lakehouse architectures.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into robust, data-driven solutions.
• Support production data platforms through monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop and maintain integrated datasets by leveraging API integrations, cloud services, and modern data engineering best practices.
• Build scalable data platforms with Databricks.
