Job summary

iterate is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join a Melbourne-based organisation supporting a critical data platform program. This is an initial 3 month contract, ideal for someone who can start immediately.

You will build and run pipelines, shape data, and ensure reliability for multiple teams, with depth in Snowflake transformation layers and data modelling. You’ll use dbt, SQL, and Python to deliver robust data solutions.

Qualifications

• Solid data modelling experience (dimensional modelling, SCD patterns or similar) - comfortable owning the transformation layer, not just ingestion.
• Proven data ingestion and transformation experience across multiple source systems.
• Strong commercial experience with dbt (models, tests, macros, incremental builds)
• Strong commercial experience with Snowflake or a comparable data warehouse, including optimising the higher data transformation layers
• Solid SQL and Python

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain data ingestion pipelines from source systems into Snowflake
• Develop, test and document dbt models that turn raw data into clean, well-modelled, business-ready datasets
• Build, schedule and monitor workflows in Airflow
• Keep pipelines reliable, performant and cost-efficient in Snowflake
• Troubleshoot data issues and fix them at the source
• Work closely with fellow engineers and leads to deliver against program priorities

This is a hands‑on, behind‑the‑scenes data engineering role. You’ll build and run the pipelines that bring data in, shape it, and make it reliable for the teams that depend on it - with real depth expected in the higher transformation and data modelling layers in Snowflake, not just raw ingestion.
