Job summary

Hearing Australia is seeking a Senior Data Engineer in Port Macquarie to lead the design and evolution of our Azure-based data platform. You will shape scalable data solutions enabling trusted reporting and insights for Australians.

You will partner with stakeholders to deliver fit-for-purpose data products, implement CI/CD and modern development practices, and mentor teams across our data & analytics capability.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in data engineering and cloud-based analytics platforms, with hands-on Azure data ecosystem expertise.
• Advanced technical skills in SQL, Python and Spark, with experience building scalable ELT/ETL pipelines and lakehouse architectures.
• Proven ability to develop and support enterprise-grade data products, datasets and reporting solutions.
• Solid understanding of data quality, governance, monitoring and observability practices.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, automated testing and Agile delivery.
• Excellent problem-solving and stakeholder engagement with ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable Synapse pipelines, lakehouse solutions and trusted data products for enterprise reporting.
• Develop and optimise data ingestion, integration and transformation processes to ensure reliable, high-quality data delivery.
• Monitor, support and continuously improve performance, reliability and cost efficiency of data platform services.
• Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver fit-for-purpose data and analytics solutions.
• Implement best-practice data engineering processes, including automated testing, data quality controls, CI/CD and monitoring.
• Provide technical leadership through mentoring, knowledge sharing and adoption of modern development tools and practices.
