Laing O’Rourke Australia is seeking a Senior Data Engineer in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane. This role offers career progression within a privately-owned tier 1 constructor and international engineering enterprise.

Lead design and development of scalable cloud data solutions, mentor teammates, and partner with stakeholders to translate requirements into robust data platforms.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer with strong SQL, data modelling and ETL/ELT development.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Spark and modern cloud data platforms.
  • Skilled at engaging stakeholders, gathering requirements and delivering practical business outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, quality, performance optimisation and scalable architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development and optimisation of scalable cloud-based data solutions and pipelines.
  • Deliver high-quality data products that enable reporting, analytics, AI and data-driven decision making.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects and technology teams to translate requirements into solutions.
  • Drive best practice in data engineering, governance, quality, security and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor team members and contribute to the evolution of our enterprise data platform and analytics capability.

About the role
