Job summary

The Office of the Commonwealth Ombudsman in Sydney is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to support performance reporting and data governance. The successful candidate will build and maintain dashboards, interpret data for actionable insights, and drive governance practices across the Office.

You will collaborate with a small, geographically dispersed team, prepare executive briefings, and contribute to the Office's performance framework and policy documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience analysing and interpreting data to produce insights, reports and recommendations.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and translating technical concepts to business terms.
• Experience supporting performance reporting and data governance activities.
• Understanding of data and metadata management, data asset registers, glossaries and repositories.
• Contribute to reporting frameworks, data standards or governance processes.
• Strong analytical, research and critical thinking skills with attention to detail.
• Written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a small, geographically dispersed team environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and improve reporting products and dashboards using Power BI, Dynamics and other reporting tools.
• Analyse and interpret data to produce clear, accurate and actionable insights.
• Contribute to the Office Performance Framework, preparing regular performance reports and monitoring results.
• Support the Data Governance Framework with policies, standards, processes and documentation.
• Prepare performance reports and briefings for the Executive Committee and senior leaders.
• Maintain data governance artefacts, including data asset registers and glossaries.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to improve data quality and governance practices.
• Support external data and survey provider management, monitoring deliverables.
• Contribute to team culture and delivery in a small, dispersed environment.
