Job summary

HiTech Personnel in Canberra is seeking three experienced Senior Cyber Threat Analysts to strengthen the federal government's cyber security operations and defensive capabilities.

Roles involve proactive threat hunting, intrusion investigations, malware analysis and incident response across complex ICT environments, with an initial 12-month contract and up to 24 months of extensions, offered at rewarding hourly rates.

Qualifications

• Experience in cyber threat hunting and incident response in complex ICT environments.
• Knowledge of Australian Government security frameworks (ISM/PSPF/Essential Eight) and strong reporting skills.
• Experience with security log analysis and threat modelling to identify vulnerabilities.

Responsibilities

One of Australia's leading Federal Government departments is looking to engage 3 experienced Senior Cyber Threat Analysts (Lead Cyber Threat Analysts) to strengthen its cyber security operations and defensive capabilities. The successful Senior Cyber Threat Analysts will lead proactive threat hunting, cyber intrusion investigations, malware analysis and incident response activities across complex enterprise environments. The successful candidates will secure an initial 12-month contract with up to 24 months of extensions and attractive hourly rates!

The successful Senior Cyber Threat Analysts will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Leading proactive cyber threat hunting activities to identify suspicious behaviour, intrusion attempts and emerging threats.
• Investigating cyber security incidents, analysing malicious activity and supporting incident response and containment.
• Conducting threat intelligence research, malware analysis and threat modelling to identify vulnerabilities and attack techniques.
• Producing technical investigation reports, recommending remediation strategies and supporting cyber security capability uplift.

The successful Senior Cyber Threat Analysts will have experience in the following:

• Demonstrated experience in cyber threat hunting, intrusion analysis, incident response and security operations within complex ICT environments.
• Strong technical capability with Microsoft Defender, Advanced Hunting (KQL), Elastic/Kibana, ExtraHop and security log analysis.
• Experience investigating indicators of compromise, attacker tactics and techniques, malware activity and network-based threats.
• Knowledge of Australian Government security frameworks including the ISM, PSPF and Essential Eight, with strong stakeholder engagement and technical reporting skills.
