Job summary

Randstad is partnering with the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) North Coast Region to recruit two Senior Cultural Heritage Officers for 2-year internal contractor positions in the North Coast and Sunshine Coast regions, Queensland.

These roles focus on planning, delivering, and protecting cultural heritage across Queensland Transport infrastructure projects, with field surveys, CHMPs, and engagement with Traditional Owner groups.

Qualifications

• Degree in Archaeology/Anthropology/Cultural Heritage Management or related discipline.
• Current Australian Class C driver's licence.
• General Construction Induction Card (White Card) or ability to obtain one.
• Willingness to undergo pre-employment Criminal History Check.
• Experience in cultural heritage management at strategic and project-delivery levels.
• Experience drafting heritage management plans (CHMPs) and managing heritage agreements.
• Strong communication and collaboration with Traditional Owner groups.
• Willingness to travel regionally and conduct field inspections.

Responsibilities

• Act as the Senior Cultural Heritage lead across multiple infrastructure project delivery teams, guiding planning, design, construction, and maintenance.
• Promote and maintain trusted relationships with stakeholders, especially Traditional Owner groups and native title bodies.
• Ensure compliance with state/federal heritage legislation, duty of care, and departmental environmental policies.
• Conduct assessments, and author CHMPs, heritage agreements, and regional reports.
• Coordinate on-site field surveys, monitoring programs, archaeological investigations, and regional audits.
• Collaborate with the Environment & Cultural Heritage team to achieve sustainable, project-wide outcomes.
