Job summary

Department of Transport and Main Roads QLD – Nerang QLD is seeking a Senior Cultural Heritage Officer to support QTRIP projects with expert cultural heritage advice and compliance guidance across the South Coast Region.

You will ensure cultural heritage management during all project phases, maintain relationships with Traditional Owners and other stakeholders, and implement departmental policies to deliver safe and compliant regional operations.

Qualifications

• Experience advising on cultural heritage management (Indigenous and non-Indigenous).
• Knowledge of relevant heritage legislation and policy requirements.
• Ability to work with multiple project delivery teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Implement Cultural Heritage Process Manual and policies across project teams.
• Foster strategic relationships with stakeholders, including Traditional Owners.
• Undertake cultural heritage risk assessments and prepare reports/plans.
• Organise field work, surveys, monitoring and audits for heritage.
• Manage cultural heritage services provided by consultants; handle briefs and contracts.
• Support regional Heritage Preservation Element management including financial planning and reporting.
• Develop and implement new systems to improve heritage management.
• Deliver training on heritage requirements to stakeholders.
• Represent the department on external groups and work with the team.
• Provide mentoring to junior staff and officers within the department.
