Job summary

Moray & Agnew's Perth office is seeking a Senior Associate or Special Counsel to join the specialist Compulsory Third Party (CTP) team on a permanent full-time basis. The role focuses on defending motor vehicle injury claims for major insurers and involves strategic, high-value work with strong support from senior paralegals.

You'll draft liability and quantum advices, manage complex files, mentor junior lawyers, and contribute to business development.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years' post admission experience in defendant insurance or personal injury practice.
• Strong ability to independently manage a portfolio of complex, high-value files.
• Excellent legal drafting and analytical skills with concise, commercial advices.
• Solid knowledge of civil practice and procedure in WA District and Supreme Courts.
• Strong client relationships with a consultative, commercially aware approach.
• Commitment to mentoring and developing junior lawyers and paralegals.
• Ability to prioritise in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Providing strategic, commercially focused advice to major insurer clients on complex CTP matters
• Drafting high-quality advices on liability, causation, quantum and settlement strategy
• Proactive management of a portfolio of high-value and technically complex files
• Attending pre-trial conferences and court appearances in WA
• Supervising and mentoring associates and paralegals within the CTP team
• Contributing to the strategic direction, client relationships, and business development
