Job summary

Multicultural Consulting Services (MCS) is seeking a seasoned cost planning lead to manage preconstruction cost planning for Queensland building projects across healthcare, education, civic and commercial sectors.

The role focuses on preparing tender quantities, tracking pricing trends, developing subcontractor pricing, and supporting variation assessments to ensure alignment with budgets and feasibility pricing.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in construction, engineering, quantity surveying or project/construction management.
• Ten years of construction experience and multidisciplinary estimating capability.
• Advanced financial-management and contemporary estimating-software skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tender quantities and cost plans from drawings, briefs and specifications.
• Track pricing, market trends and construction methods and maintain benchmarked work breakdowns.
• Develop supplier and subcontractor pricing and present escalation and cash-flow assessments.
• Peer-review estimates and support major variation assessments.
• Check design development against budgets and contribute as-built cost analysis and feasibility pricing.

The Opportunity

Lead preconstruction cost planning for Queensland building projects across healthcare, education, civic and commercial sectors.

Your Work

• Prepare tender quantities and cost plans from drawings, briefs and specifications.
• Track pricing, market trends and construction methods and maintain benchmarked work breakdowns.
• Develop supplier and subcontractor pricing and present escalation and cash-flow assessments.

Requirements

Skills, Education and Requirements

• Relevant tertiary or trade qualification in construction, engineering, quantity surveying or project/construction management.
• Ten years of construction experience and multidisciplinary estimating capability.
• Advanced financial-management and contemporary estimating-software skills.
• Experience across construct-only, design-and-construct, managing-contract, alliance, joint-venture and PPP delivery models.
• Ability to assess safety, environmental and quality risks and interpret requirements affecting costs.
