Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a cost engineer in Australia to perform estimating, analysis, and control activities for projects with non-routine requirements and high technical skill needs. You will prepare cost studies, review trends, and implement project cost control measures.

This role supports Bechtel's cost engineering practice in a hybrid setup, with in-person attendance required three days per week at the assigned office or project.

Qualifications

• Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing cost engineering functions (estimation, control, analysis).
• Knowledge of supervision, personnel administration, and training of technical and non-technical personnel.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency with PC operating systems and basic software; Bechtel tools like EcoSys and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Review project documents relating to cost control of allocated packages.
• Interpret contract scopes, budgets, quantities, hours, and costs for budget allocation.
• Prepare package cost remuneration schedules for market issuance.
• Analyze and report pricing and schedules from the market, including change orders.
• Prepare Commitment Appropriation Requests (CAR).
• Perform routine cost forecasting, analysis, and control activities as directed.
• Coordinate with Supply Chain and Engineering to certify vendor progress claims.
• Raise project cost trends to indicate variance, using first principles where needed.
• Review and monitor cost commitments and expenditures in EcoSys.
• Produce cost status reports and advise management of forecast overruns.
