The Role

The Team Lead will lead the growth of Beyond Electrical Engineering (BEE) Sydney service team while operating hands-on in a senior control systems technician role. Reporting to the National Service Manager, this full-time Sydney-based Team Lead position is a great opportunity for an experienced Control Systems Technician who wants to step into leadership, work closely with customers, and help build a local service business with the backing of an established national company.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior technician who wants to take the next step in their career and build leadership and management capability. With support from the BEE leadership team, the successful candidate will play a key role in growing our Sydney service operation. As the team expands, this role will evolve into a leadership position with direct reports, initially within control systems and potentially extending into high voltage services. Responsibilities for the role include:

  • Lead the development and growth of BEE’s Sydney service presence, helping build a high-performing local team.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing customers while identifying and supporting opportunities with new clients.
  • Visit client sites to gather information, define scopes, and support the preparation of quotations and estimates.
  • Install, maintain, and repair control system equipment for our clients.
  • Conduct system diagnostics, troubleshoot faults, and resolve technical issues related to control system operation.
  • Program and configure control systems to meet project requirements and support optimal plant performance.
  • Provide technical support to customers onsite and remotely, including guidance on control system operation and maintenance.
  • Complete service documentation including maintenance reports, work orders, and equipment records.
  • Ensure excellent service delivery is achieved within budget and time constraints while maintaining a high standard of safety.
  • As the Sydney team grows, take on leadership responsibility for developing and supervising new team members, including control systems technicians and potentially HV technicians.
  • Participate in on-call duties where required, including after-hours work and shift coverage, with on-call allowance and overtime payments applying where applicable.
Qualifications / Experience
  • A Grade Electrical Licence (Electrical Mechanic)
  • Strong IT skills, including a sound understanding of Windows applications and IP networking
  • Solid experience in control systems within industrial, manufacturing, infrastructure, utilities, or similar sectors
  • Experience in onsite maintenance, commissioning, and fault finding
  • Experience with one or more PLC platforms such as Rockwell Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider or similar systems
  • Experience with one or more SCADA platforms such as FT View, WinCC, PlantSCADA, Ignition, GeoSCADA or similar
  • Demonstrated capability in PLC/SCADA programming, fault finding, and system support
  • Experience scoping works, gathering site information, and supporting quotations or estimation is highly regarded
  • Previous leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience is advantageous but not essential for the right senior technician looking to step up
  • Experience in instrumentation fault finding, commissioning, low voltage distribution, MCCs, or power systems is highly regarded
About You
  • Must have full work rights in Australia
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be a team player

We recognise that some people may hesitate to apply if they don’t meet every requirement. At BEE, we value diversity and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences. If you have some of the skills listed and a positive attitude with a willingness to learn, we’d love to hear from you.

This role offers genuine growth potential for someone who wants to help build a service business, expand their leadership capability, and play a meaningful part in the growth of our Sydney operations. With the backing of the BEE leadership team, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the direction of the local team and grow into a broader leadership role as the business expands.
