Technical Resources invites applications for a Senior Control Systems Engineer based in Brisbane. This hands-on role covers mining and heavy industrial projects, from concept to testing, implementation and commissioning.

You will design and implement PLC, SCADA and HMI systems, develop control philosophies and documentation, and lead FAT, SAT and site commissioning activities with multidisciplinary teams.

• Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic, Control Systems Engineering or a related discipline.

Senior Control Systems Engineer Brisbane | 12-month contract | Mining & Heavy Industry

We are seeking an experienced Senior Control Systems Engineer for an initial 12-month contract based in Brisbane.

This is a hands‑on engineering position working across mining and heavy industrial projects. The role will suit someone who can take ownership of control system packages from concept and detailed design through to testing, implementation and commissioning.

The role

• Design, develop and implement PLC, SCADA and HMI control systems.
• Develop control philosophies, functional descriptions, I/O lists, network architectures and technical documentation.
• Undertake PLC and HMI/SCADA programming, configuration and testing.
• Lead or support FAT, SAT and site commissioning activities.
• Troubleshoot complex control, instrumentation, communications and automation issues.
• Review engineering designs and provide technical guidance to project teams and junior engineers.
• Coordinate with electrical, instrumentation, process, mechanical and project engineering disciplines.
• Work with clients, suppliers and contractors to deliver practical engineering solutions.
• Ensure designs meet relevant engineering standards, project specifications and safety requirements.
• Support the estimation, planning and delivery of control system work packages.

About you

• Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic, Control Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong experience in industrial automation and control systems.
• Demonstrated PLC and SCADA/HMI engineering capability.
• Experience with industrial communications and networked control systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and commissioning experience.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, control philosophies and functional specifications.
• Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
• Experience with platforms such as Rockwell Automation / Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Honeywell, Emerson or ABB will be highly regarded.

• Initial 12-month contract.
