Job summary

Woolworths Group in Sydney seeks an experienced Senior Competition and Consumer Lawyer for a 12-month parental leave contract. You will deliver strategic legal advice across a broad retail ecosystem and lead regulatory engagements with key bodies.

You will bring 7+ years of PQE in competition/regulatory law, strong ACCC experience, and a collaborative, results‑oriented mindset to the team.

Qualifications

7+ years PQE in competition/regulatory law from a top-tier firm or major corporate legal team.
Deep knowledge of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 and the Australian Consumer Law.
Proven history interfacing with ACCC and other regulators across matters.
Strong commercial acumen with pragmatism in fast-paced environments.
Superior communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Excellent self-management to prioritise competing demands and drive outcomes.
Collaborative, solution-focused mindset for complex problems.

Responsibilities

Provide high-quality, timely competition and consumer law advice across the Woolworths Group ecosystem.
Represent and advise on merger clearances, pricing, marketing, regulatory disputes, investigations and litigation.
Work with the General Counsel to liaise with regulators on current and future initiatives.
Partner with external counsel to ensure cost-effective, high-impact representation.
Monitor legislative updates to keep stakeholders informed of regulatory risks and changes.
Mentor and supervise junior team members to build team capability.
