Job summary

The Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety in Western Australia is seeking a Senior Communications Officer to lead media strategy and editorial content across ministerial speeches, statements, publications and website content. You will liaise with media and coordinate ministerial and parliamentary liaison requests.

You will develop, plan and implement comprehensive communications plans, manage stakeholder relationships, and contribute to public messaging for a diverse

Qualifications

• Demonstrated excellent written skills including high level speech writing, editing, preparation of editorial content and website content, and development of media statements.
• Experience in high level stakeholder management, in particular, effective relationships with Ministerial office and the media.
• Extensive experience in planning, developing and implementing media strategies and broader communications plans.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement media strategies as part of the department's communications objectives.
• Edit and prepare ministerial speeches, media statements, departmental publications, advertising content and website content, and liaise with media.
• Coordinate Ministerial and Parliamentary liaison functions, undertake planning, develop strategies and manage communication between the department and the media.
• Provide advice about portfolio media and communications opportunities, assist in the preparation, production and distribution of publications and promotional material.
• Perform other key tasks as required in a varied role supporting diverse client bases.
