Job summary

Allens in Sydney seeks a Senior Commercial Manager to lead firm-wide strategic projects, apply financial discipline and commercial insight to guide decision-making, and support profitability across priority practice groups.

You will partner with Practice Group Leaders and Partners, develop business cases for future investments, mentor the team, and drive cross-functional collaboration to enhance client experience and financial outcomes.

Qualifications

• Deep commercial finance, FP&A or related analytical experience.
• Strong commercial acumen and analytical capability.
• Experience leading strategic projects with solid PM skills.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Track record of coaching or developing others.
• Proactive, solutions-focused, collaborative attitude.
• CA/CPA or equivalent is desirable.

You’ll be a part of our Commercial Management team, working closely with practice group leaders, partners and senior stakeholders across the firm. The team plays an important role in driving profitable growth, bringing commercial insight, financial discipline and a deep understanding of the firm, industry and market to support strategic decision-making.

As a Senior Commercial Manager, you will:

• Provide leadership on complex, firm-wide strategic projects, working cross-functionally and applying technical expertise to inform decision-making and implementation.
• Work with senior stakeholders to identify opportunities to enhance the financial performance and commercial viability of priority practice groups.
• Use your knowledge of the firm, industry and market to develop innovative commercial solutions, strengthen collaboration across Corporate Services and support practice group leaders to drive behavioural change that improves client experience and financial outcomes.
• Act as a trusted adviser to Practice Group Leaders and Partners, providing commercial and financial insight to support strategic and operational decision-making.
• Work with senior leaders to develop business cases for future investments.
• Use data, technology and commercial insight to improve the quality, speed and impact of decision making.
• Lead, mentor and coach team members to build capability and deliver strong outcomes across the firm.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity. At Allens we have a hybrid working structure, typically 60% in the office and 40% from home. We would be happy to discuss any other flexible working arrangements that best support you.

About you

You will have:

• Deep commercial finance, FP&A or other analytical experience (transaction services, restructuring etc.), ideally gained in a professional services, legal, consulting or other complex stakeholder environment.
• Strong commercial acumen, analytical capability and the confidence to translate financial and market insight into practical advice for senior stakeholders.
• Experience leading or contributing to strategic projects, with strong project management skills and the ability to bring structure, clarity and momentum to complex initiatives.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with partners, practice leaders and Corporate Services teams.
• A track record of leading, coaching or developing others, with the ability to build capability through both direct and indirect leadership.
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach and a desire to learn, grow, collaborate and mentor others.
• CA/CPA or equivalent is desirable.
