Job summary

PeopleWise Consulting, in partnership with a respected South Australian commercial builder, is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join a team delivering $5–$15M projects. You will prepare accurate estimates, review drawings, cost plans and tender submissions while coordinating with Project Managers and Directors.

To be successful you will have at least five years of estimating experience in commercial construction, a proven ability to source subcontractor quotes, and strong commercial

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate estimates for commercial projects valued between $5M and $15M.
• Review architectural drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Prepare detailed cost plans, bills of quantities and tender submissions.
• Source, assess and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Identify commercial risks and value engineering opportunities.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Site Managers and Directors.
• Manage tender deadlines while maintaining accuracy and competitiveness.
• Support project handovers and ongoing delivery.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Estimator to join a successful commercial building company delivering projects valued between $5 million and $15 million.

Working within an established team of four to five professionals, you'll be involved in a diverse pipeline of commercial construction projects, with the business typically managing eight to twelve projects at various stages.

You'll enjoy the support of an experienced management team, approachable Directors and a collaborative working environment where your knowledge and contribution are genuinely valued.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for commercial building projects valued between $5M and $15M
• Review architectural drawings, specifications and tender documentation
• Prepare detailed cost plans, bills of quantities and tender submissions
• Source, assess and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations
• Identify commercial risks, cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions
• Work collaboratively with Project Managers, Site Managers and Directors
• Manage tender deadlines while maintaining accuracy and commercial competitiveness
• Contribute to successful project handovers and ongoing project delivery

About You

We're looking for an experienced Estimator who understands commercial construction and enjoys being part of a collaborative, professional team.

To be successful, you'll bring:

• Minimum five years' experience in estimating within the building and construction industry
• Previous experience working directly for a commercial building company or head contractor, rather than solely within a subcontracting business
• Demonstrated experience estimating commercial construction projects, ideally in the $5M–$15M range
• Strong understanding of commercial building methodologies, construction costs and tendering processes
• Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings
• Excellent commercial judgement, negotiation and analytical skills
• Strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
• A proactive, organised and detail-focused approach
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
