Job summary

The SACE Board of South Australia is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to lead the design, deployment and ongoing improvement of cloud infrastructure. You will ensure secure, compliant Azure and M365 environments and guide incident responses with ICT and external partners.

This term contract role offers an ASO7 level, with recognition of DevSecOps practices, strong governance and collaboration across teams. Adelaide-based, some out-of-hours work may be required.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, administering and supporting cloud environments with a focus on Microsoft Azure.
• Extensive knowledge of Azure hosting infrastructure, identity services and core infrastructure services.
• Experience administering Microsoft 365 services including Teams and OneDrive; endpoint management.

The Impact you will drive at the SACE Board

As the Senior Cloud Engineer, you will provide technical leadership in the design, implementation, management and continuous improvement of the SACE Board's cloud infrastructure and services.

You will play a critical role in ensuring our Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments remain secure, reliable, resilient and aligned with organisational requirements. You will contribute to technology roadmaps, develop and review technical designs, implement new and enhanced cloud services, and provide specialist advice that supports the SACE Board’s digital strategy.

Working collaboratively across ICT and with external service providers, you will lead the resolution of complex incidents, support recovery from system outages, strengthen cloud governance and security, and ensure compliance with relevant whole-of-government architecture and security standards.

What you will bring

Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, administering and supporting cloud environments, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure.

Extensive knowledge of Azure hosting infrastructure, identity services, Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, Windows Server and core infrastructure services.

Demonstrated experience administering and supporting Microsoft 365 services, including Microsoft Teams, OneDrive and endpoint management.

Experience designing, installing, deploying and supporting secure, resilient and scalable cloud infrastructure and services.

Demonstrated ability to investigate and resolve complex technical incidents, including system outages, recovery activities and escalations involving external service providers.

Strong knowledge of cloud governance, security, architecture and change management practices.

Demonstrated ability to provide specialist technical advice and translate complex issues into practical, business-focused solutions.

Ability to provide technical guidance and mentoring to ICT colleagues, promoting collaboration, knowledge sharing and service excellence.

Strong stakeholder and vendor relationship management skills.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and maintain a high degree of accuracy.

An appropriate tertiary qualification in information technology or equivalent relevant experience.

Vendor-recognised cloud certifications, experience working in a DevSecOps environment, and experience supporting Linux virtual machines and relational databases in cloud environments will be highly regarded.

Special Conditions

Some out-of-hours work may be required.

Appointment is subject to a satisfactory Working with Children Check obtained through the Department of Human Services and renewed before expiry in accordance with applicable requirements.

The role is governed by the SACE Board of South Australia Act 1983.

Remuneration

ASO7: $116,089 to $125,490 per annum

This is a 2-year term role with the possibility of extension.
