Job summary

Whizdom is seeking a Senior Cloud Security Specialist in Canberra, with deep expert-level Zscaler and Zero Trust experience, to lead advisory, architecture, engineering and uplift activities. About the Role

The client is seeking a Senior Cloud Security Specialist with deep Zscaler expertise to support the continued development and optimisation of its Zero Trust environment. This senior engagement will combine specialist advisory, architecture, engineering and operational uplift responsibilities. You will review the existing Zero Trust architecture, strengthen the resilience and recoverability of the Zscaler platform, improve monitoring and observability, and help advance Infrastructure as Code and Policy as Code practices.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Implementing and optimising Zscaler Cloud Connector monitoring, alerting and operational dashboards
• Reviewing Zero Trust architecture, configurations and security controls
• Validating platform resilience, recovery settings and operational processes
• Supporting the adoption of Infrastructure as Code and Policy as Code
• Expanding automation and reducing reliance on manual configuration
• Providing technical leadership across cloud, network and security services
• Developing operational runbooks, troubleshooting guides and support procedures
• Identifying and managing technical, security, operational and delivery risks
• Mentoring internal Network, Cloud and Security personnel
• Delivering structured knowledge transfer and capability uplift activities

The Successful Candidate

To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced cloud and network security professional with expert-level knowledge of enterprise Zscaler environments and Zero Trust architecture.

You will bring demonstrated experience in:

• Designing, implementing, administering and optimising enterprise Zscaler solutions
• Working with Zscaler Cloud Connector and Zero Trust security controls
• Improving monitoring, alerting, observability and operational dashboards
• Troubleshooting complex platform issues and supporting security incidents
• Reviewing security architecture, resilience, recovery and operational controls
• Implementing Infrastructure as Code and Policy as Code
• Using automation and version-controlled change within secure environments
• Producing high-quality runbooks, technical documentation and support procedures
• Mentoring technical teams and delivering structured knowledge transfer
• Communicating effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Current Zscaler certifications, experience within Australian Government environments, and experience integrating Zscaler with AWS, Microsoft Azure, enterprise networking, SIEM or security-monitoring platforms will be highly regarded.

Location

The role is based in Canberra ACT, but may be performed remotely. The specialist may be required to attend the Canberra office for agreed workshops, planning or knowledge-transfer activities. Some work outside standard business hours may be required for planned changes or operational activities and must be agreed in advance.

Contract terms

12 months from commencement date, plus 1x 12 month extensions

Security Requirements

Candidates must hold a minimum Baseline security clearance.

Candidates will need to be willing to undergo pre-employment screening checks which may include, ID and work rights, security clearance verification and any other client requested checks.
