Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Region Services in Sydney is seeking engineers to keep one of the world’s largest cloud platforms running, while driving innovation in compute, security, and reliability. You will own the health and reliability of critical AWS software systems and work across pillars to deliver secure, scalable solutions for Australian customers.

You will identify operational burdens, engineer them away with automation, and mentor teammates.

Qualifications

• 5+ years deploying/operating in Linux/Unix environments.
• 5+ years of systems development in IT/data center settings.
• 3+ years in systems design, software development, operations, automation, or process improvement.
• 3+ years programming in C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby.
• Experience leading the design, build and deployment of complex, scalable software.
• Experience with distributed systems at scale.
• Mentoring or leading junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Own the health and reliability of critical AWS software systems and respond to operational events with calm, end-to-end understanding.
• Identify patterns in operational burden and engineer them away, building automation and tooling.
• Design and implement solutions to reduce operational toil at scale and create self-healing workflows.
• Collaborate across capability pillars and mentor engineers while shaping architectural decisions.
• Maintain and evolve automation backlog to drive improvements in the next sprint.
