Job summary

Amazon Web Services is seeking a systems-oriented professional to help manage secure, scalable environments for sensitive workloads in Australia. You will refine requirements, automate health monitoring, and contribute to hardware evaluations, while ensuring reliability in growing systems.

Ideal candidates bring 3+ years of admin experience, Linux/Unix proficiency, and programming with modern languages. Australian citizenship with clearance eligibility is required, and distributed systems

Qualifications

• 3+ years of admin experience in networking, storage, OS, and hands-on systems engineering.
• Experience with Linux/Unix.
• Experience programming with Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust.
• Australian citizen with ability to obtain Australian Government Security Clearance.
• Experience with distributed systems at scale (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Define and/or refine system requirements and participate in development and delivery of operability-related features.
• Develop or enhance application and system management tools to reduce manual effort and increase efficiency.
• Adapt and improve operations management systems to handle growth in systems and traffic.
• Participate in production acceptance tests and new hardware evaluations.
• Monitor fleet health and automate maintenance tasks and reporting.
• Participate in on-call rotations to resolve incidents outside business hours.

The AWS Region Services team combines AWS global cloud leadership with Australian security expertise to deliver highly secure, scalable environments for sensitive workloads. The Engineering organisation within Region Services is structured across core capability pillars: Compute & Machine Learning, Security Identity & Compliance, Storage & Databases, and a growing capability domain. Key responsibilities

• Define and/or refine system requirements, participate in the development and delivery of operability-related features such as system health monitoring, diagnostics, repair, and other self-healing automation
• Develop or further existing application and system management tools and processes that reduce manual efforts and increase overall efficiency
• Adapt and improve operations management systems and processes to accommodate rapid and increasing growth in systems and traffic
• Participate in the design and execution of production acceptance tests and new hardware evaluations
• Monitor the health of the fleet, automating system health, maintenance tasks, and reporting systems as needed
• Participate in "on-call" rotations to resolve incidents occurring out-of-hours

About you

• 3+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering experience
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
• Experience with Linux/Unix
• Australian citizen and hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance with the ability to successfully complete an Organisational Suitability Assessment
• Experience with distributed systems at scale (preferred)
